![]() ![]() Imagine you play a clan war and lose just because your team got bad spots. On top of that starting in the middle was a pain in the ass due to narrow openings for spice in the beggining and being too close to oponents, which sometimes made me move the MCV to another spot despite the delay. The top team had more spice and more space to play and build. However, back then people complained about the map being imbalanced. Because of all that I edited the map to try to eliminate the disadvantage factors: moved middle starting spot to TM, added more spice blooms for BL(bottom left) spot, made BL more open to make it easier to attack and defend as well as to prevent hiding in base tactics, added more space to build for BR spot and made TR starting spot to not have to move an MCV in order to deploy it. Probably Most of the open XL maps are pretty good, but I like Habbanya Erg the most, because it is not too open and not too closed, which is also why it inevitably will be very favoured map in the future if there are still people to play Dune. The most played and respected maps back when Westwood servers were still online was Red Chasm for tournament and famous Habbanya Erg for 2v2's and 1v1's using 1 star handicap. ![]() My favourite map is Habanya erg its a big 6 player map so lots of land to expand on :) I will constantly check the forums and update the game accordingly. Post your favourite community maps, whether your own or from the downloads section. To support this, patches are planned to be very frequent, and as a result an Auto Patcher is being developed which will make sure your version of the game is up to date with the latest maps and files. Players will submit their favourite custom maps, and whatever maps are the most popular will be officially supported online. Since many users will be running the Gruntmods Edition of Dune 2000, and I have a patching system in place, I came up with a solution. This was a large hassle, and did not help users who wanted a quick and fun match. With the creation of a brand new map editor, maps are now easier to create then ever before.Īn issue that used to be a large problem in the past, was that both players needed to agree on what maps they would play together before going online, as they could not play someone who did not have the maps installed. A problem many people have with the online in Dune 2000 is that the maps get old fast, new maps keep the game fresh. So as you may have heard, I am working on creating a server for Dune 2000 and Emperor: Battle for Dune. ![]()
